Make a list of occasions

Record the events you genuinely plan to mark, who you are buying for and any delivery dates. Set a total budget before browsing. Include wrapping, postage and travel where relevant. Keep the plan flexible enough to allow a shared meal, a useful favour or another non-product option where that would be more welcome.

Buy early only when it helps

An early purchase is useful when you know the item is right and the return window still works for the occasion. It is less useful when it ties up your budget or makes exchange impossible. Check storage needs for food, cosmetics and fragile objects. Do not assume a seasonal label means the item is at its lowest price.

Keep records in one place

Save receipts and note where each gift is stored so you do not buy twice. For online orders, track expected delivery and review any missed date promptly with the seller. Avoid sharing surprise gifts through public wish lists without checking the visibility settings. After the occasion, note what worked so next season starts with useful experience rather than a larger list.
